The Estate is a family estate where successive generations have served the land since 1940. Christine Vernay is the third generation of the family to manage it. The terroirs of Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu resulted from the breakup of the Massif Central which gave rise to the Rhône plain.
Today, the soils are comprised of granite, sandy silica and mica schist. This bedrock plays a key role in regulating the water supply to the vine, with terraces established on a particularly well-draining soil due to the presence of many vertical microfaults.
