The Story Behind the Wine: Bodegas Manzanos is one of the founding wineries of the D.O.Ca. Rioja, the prestigious designation of origin that defines the high standards of winemaking in this famous region. Established in 1890 and located in Haro, the heart of Rioja, Bodegas Manzanos holds the distinction of being one of the oldest wineries in the region. Haro, known as the "wine capital of Rioja," is home to some of the most renowned wineries in Spain and is celebrated for its role in elevating Spanish wine onto the global stage.

The Manzanos family has maintained their dedication to tradition and innovation through five generations of vine growers and winemakers. The 2020 vintage of Manzanos Blanco Fermentado en Barrica reflects this heritage, blending 51% Viura from old vines and 49% Chardonnay. The wine is barrel-aged for 9 months in a mix of 80% French oak and 20% American oak, followed by an additional 6 months in the bottle to develop complexity.

About Haro: The town of Haro, located in the Rioja Alta subregion, is considered a historic hub for Spanish wine production. With a history dating back to the 19th century, Haro's wineries, including Bodegas Manzanos, were pioneers in adopting French winemaking techniques after phylloxera devastated European vineyards. Today, Haro is famous for its Barrio de la Estación (Railway Station District), where some of the most prestigious wineries, including Bodegas Manzanos, are clustered, offering a unique wine tourism experience.
